Fiber Charmer

Picture
Eve Borkenhagen

I'm a knitter who has discovered that knitting is a gateway craft.  I've been involved with needlearts since I was old enough to hold a needle, but knitting is the one that has inspired me the most.  Once I started knitting, I found myself being drawn further and further into the production of fibers, first learning to spin only because my aunt was interested, then learning to dye to understand why hand dyed yarns looked like they did.  I now dye yarns and commercially processed fibers, and I'm learning how to process my own wool from the fresh fleeces.

LAИART was founded by Angelo Ponce in Orange County, California in 1979. Originally from Latin America, Angelo has been doing business in Peru and the U.S. since his company's humble beginnings designing and distributing artistic alpaca rugs. Angelo's goal, which he has successfully translated into LAИART's core philosophy, has been to show the world the beautiful luxury and diverse offerings of Alpaca fiber in distinctive contemporary styles while encouraging the artistic traditions of the native people of Peru. As the popularity of alpaca as a product grew, Angelo utilized his artistic background to design a wide variety of distinctive Alpaca products that include: Women, Men, and Children's attire, Accessories, Bears & Friends, and Home Décor.

Henceforth Yarns

Picture
Neal Howard

I have been a professional dyer and weaver of silk yarns since 1989.  When I realized that dyeing is my favorite part of the process, I began offering hand dyed skeins and warps for sale to other fiber enthusiasts.  Over the years production has been streamlined, but it remains just me, dyeing outdoors in all seasons. My colors are saturated, vibrant, and fast. Dye lots are small. Special order/custom inquiries are welcome. I like to keep it personal and precious - and I like to have fun.

Did you know that Georgia was founded as a colony for vineyards?  We just planted our first two acres of wine grapes!  Check out our website.  Hopefully, in about a year and a half, you can come to our tasting room/fiber studio to sip as you spin, knit, crochet, felt, and weave.
